Driver claims he ‘just bought’ vehicle charged with unauthorized plates, Ottawa police say

A driver facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act for having loose license plates told officers the vehicle was recently purchased, according to Ottawa police.

The Ottawa Police Service says traffic officers using automated license plate recognition technology in the area of ​​Bank Street and Surrey Avenue stopped a driver whose license plates were missing. were not fixed.

“The driver whose license plates were not attached claimed he had just purchased the vehicle and was just there to run some errands,” police said on X.

Police said the date of purchase was August 29.

The driver faces charges for having unauthorized plates, failing to amend his license and not having insurance.

Police laid several charges while in the area of ​​Carling Avenue and Holy Acres Drive on Thursday.

The charges included speeding, no insurance and no license.
