A Palm Beach wedding with a touch of New York styleJacqui Cole

New York couple Rose Thompson and Gregory Bruno loved the idea of getting married in Palm Beach, where guests from across the country could enjoy the vacation atmosphere and ocean views. The bride, a menswear concept designer at Ralph Lauren, and the groom, president of Bruno Capital Management Corporation, a single-family office investment firm, have an eye for design, which played an important role during their weekend end of marriage.

“I was thinking about our style throughout our weekend,” Rose says. “It was really important to represent a timeless and elegant sensibility while also nodding to the Palm Beach aesthetic.” They played with a variety of different fabrics in shades of white and navy blue in order to “feature all the textures and tones that are often seen around the island.” Rose also created outfit moodboards on her wedding website, to guide guests.

Rose and Gregory kicked things off Thursday with a party at the Colony Hotel, where many of their guests were staying. They scheduled it for the early evening, so everyone would be rested enough to spend a full day sightseeing in Palm Beach on Friday.

“The Colony really captures that Palm Beach moment while still being small and intimate, because we just wanted our guests and us to be able to connect, but also get acquainted throughout the weekend,” says Rose, who wore a skirt flower and upper set by Zimmermann. The couple worked with Meredith Falk, founder of GLDN Eventsto plan the wedding.

After a discussion at St. Edward’s Church with Pastor Father Glen, the couple had dinner with family and close friends at the Sailfish Club. As Gregory comes from an Italian family, he wanted to incorporate this cuisine into the menu. After the meal, the rest of the guests gathered for a cocktail party, held in a cove around the property’s boats. Growing up in a coastal area, being near water was important to Gregory.

“We still wanted it to be a perfect reflection of ourselves, but we also wanted to make sure it was different from Friday,” says Rose. “At the dinner we made sure only the flowers were different, the setting was different. Obviously dinner was a lot different than what we were going to have Saturday night.

Rose and Gregory matched in Ralph Lauren; her in a white tuxedo paired with Aquazzura. “As a designer of menswear concepts, I have always had a real love for menswear,” she says. “I always knew that at some point I wanted to wear a tuxedo. It feels powerful… It felt like it was the right time to do it.

Before the ceremony, Rose got ready at The Colony, where she and her family were staying, along with her mother, friends and Trooper, her beloved French bulldog. She wore a silk feather mini dress by, you guessed it, Ralph Lauren. During a break from doing their hair, makeup, and putting on their dresses, the group went out to the pool and took a few photos. “We spent a few moments relaxing and taking everything in before getting ready, which was important,” says Rose. “It was a very Slim Aarons tropical vibe.”

Rose’s Danielle Frankel dress was made from silk wool with a low back and a scarf effect. “I wanted Danielle Frankel to nod, just because she’s so iconic,” she says. “It hits that fine line between offering a sweet surprise, while remaining very elegant and simply flattering and almost timeless. His silhouettes really, really gave me everything I needed.

Rose and Gregory wrote their personal vows which they read to each other before the wedding service, which began at St. Edward’s at 2:30 p.m. “We celebrated a full Catholic mass, and it lasted less than an hour, which is rare,” explains Grégoire. “Father Glen did a great job getting people in and out. »

Rose continues: “Having the wedding at St. Edward with a classic service was really important. We just wanted our guests to know that this was a part of who we were and who we are. Father Glen even wore a beautiful dress and I let him know how much I loved his outfit.

The guests immediately moved from the church to the Beach Club. The cocktail took place in an atrium. “There was lots of natural light, while still being indoors, so it was the best of both worlds,” says Gregory. A string quartet played and there was a seafood bar. Fashion illustrators also created sketches for guests.

The couple loved incorporating little personal details into the day. Their signature was on the dance floor and on the plates, and their first dance song, Tracy Chapman’s Fast carwas a nod to their love of driving. All guests received pins with a picture of Trooper on them.

“Our group was amazing,” Rose says. “We just wanted everyone to be able to dance, and they were really good at swapping songs, seeing who was sitting, whatever the mood, whatever the age. Gregory adds: “We also had to have horns. That was one of my stipulations. (They) just change the mood.

Later in the night, Rose donned a Danielle Frankel mini dress and Gregory donned a floral tuxedo, before they both headed out for an after-party at Cucina restaurant. “One thing I really wanted was a place for an after-party (where we could) really take off our shoes, let loose and continue the celebration,” Gregory says.

The couple had a long engagement and planning process, but were thrilled with how everything ultimately worked out. “We are very, very close to our families and we spend a lot of time with them, but it’s difficult to bring everyone together from everywhere,” Rose says. “I have distant family in Texas. He has distant family in Alabama. So it was very important to have them all in one place. But also, it was so magical that we almost didn’t want it to end.
