Who is Raihan? Is he the next generation of the Gandhi family in politics?

AAs Priyanka Gandhi prepares to enter the political arena for her first election battle in the upcoming bypoll for Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala on November 13, attention has turned to the next generation of the family Nehru-Gandhi. Speculation is growing over whether his son, Raihan Vadra, is being groomed for his political debut.

Raihan, 24, has made only rare public appearances, but he recently appeared in a nine-minute video shared by his uncle, Rahul Gandhi. In the video, Rahul is seen engaging with workers who are preparing Sonia Gandhi’s January 10 residence for Diwali. He is shown helping them scrape away old plaster while perched on a stepladder, with Raihan at his side, imitating his uncle’s efforts.

The video also shows Rahul visiting a women-run pottery business in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, where he interacts with the women and tries his hand at making a diya. Throughout the footage, Raihan and Rahul, both dressed in crisp white kurtas, stroll through their residence at dusk, discussing the invisible work that brings brightness to homes during the festival. Although Raihan doesn’t speak much, his presence alongside Rahul has sparked curiosity about his potential role in the family’s political legacy.

Raihan’s sudden visibility at a time when Rahul is seeking to create informal interactions reminiscent of his Bharat Jodo Yatra has fueled speculation that the Gandhis are positioning the younger generation for political involvement. Active on social media, Raihan describes himself as an artist on his X account, where he mainly shares cricket commentary and reposts updates from his mother and uncle, alongside sports news.

As Priyanka takes her first steps into politics, Raihan’s emergence raises questions about the future of the Gandhi family’s political dynasty. Will he follow in the footsteps of those close to him or chart his own path? Only time will tell if Raihan Vadra is indeed the next generation of the Gandhi family ready to enter the political fray.
