Peel Regional Police say a man was arrested after a gun and drugs were found while officers responded to an assault call.

Officers were called to an alleged assault on a woman and a man on October 27 in Mississauga.

The victim was slightly injured.

On October 28, investigators laid charges against Dwayne Carter Noel, a 21-year-old man from Toronto. A loaded firearm and a kilo of drugs, believed to be cocaine, were reportedly recovered.

He was charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm loaded with ammunition, assault, strangulation, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a commitment.

The man was detained for a bail hearing.
