Who are the candidates for Ward 4 in the Saskatoon municipal elections?

CTV News Saskatoon profiles Ward 4 ahead of the Nov. 13 municipal election.

Ward 4 is in the northwest of the city and includes six communities.

As of June 2022, the neighborhood had approximately 27,700 residents, according to a report from the Municipal Neighborhoods Commission.

The neighborhood is made up of the Dundonald, Elk Point, Hampton Village, Massey Place, Mount Royal and Westview neighborhoods.

Here are the candidates vying for the Ward 4 seat:


Troy Davies

Troy Davies is the incumbent for Ward 4, holding the seat since 2012. Davies was uncontested in the last municipal election, making him the acclaimed Ward 4 councilor.

He is Director of Public Affairs for Medavie Health Services West and founder of Synergy8 Community Builders. He received the Governor General’s Distinguished Service Medal and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal.

Among its priorities are community safety and addressing issues facing neighborhoods. Davies is a husband and father.


Courtney Saliken

Courtney Saliken has lived in Ward 4 for 13 years. Saliken is local superintendent at Canada Post where he manages 29 post offices.

Among its goals are suspending the Downtown Event and Entertainment District project, community health and safety, and fiscal accountability.

Saliken is a husband and father of three children.


Numman Shafqat

Numman Shafqat has lived in Ward 4 for 15 years. Shafqat is a local real estate agent. Previously, he was a supported employment specialist and youth worker.

Among its priorities are the well-being of residents, the promotion of low taxes and the reduction of crime.

He is a husband and father of two children.
