When will southern Alberta ski resorts open?

As the calendar approaches November, cooler temperatures and snowfall have helped some southern Alberta mountain resorts solidify their opening plans for the 2024-2025 ski season.

The Lake Louise Ski Resort announced Friday that it will open its doors ahead of schedule, on Tuesday, November 5.

The resort will open its Glacier Express Chair starting at 9 a.m., providing access to Bald Eagle, Wiwaxy and part of Easy Street.

Other trails will open as the season progresses.

Sunshine Village tentatively plans to open Nov. 8, depending on snow, according to an Instagram post.

Nakiska also released a tentative opening schedule, with a few preview weekends planned before going fully operational on November 29.

Preview weekends are planned for November 8-12, 16-17, and 23-24.

Mount Norquay plans to open its doors on Saturday, November 9 at 9 a.m., according to an Instagram post.

The resort had originally planned to open Nov. 2, but temperatures affected its snowmaking efforts.
