The Ministry of Education has taken strict measures to ensure regular grading of attendance through Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) in all higher education institutions.

Despite repeated directives, some establishments have been lax in taking attendance, citing technical problems with their biometric machines.

To address this issue, the department has asked assistant principals to monitor and enforce the use of AEBA.

Faulty machines should be promptly repaired and until then, manual attendance records should be maintained and submitted to the nodal officer (IT) at the district level. Daily machine condition reports are mandatory. The department stressed the importance of AEBAS compliance and warned of strict action against non-compliant institutions.
