Kitty reunited with her family more than two years after her disappearance

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Wednesday morning, a community member found a stray cat and brought it to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

The Humane Society said they scanned the cat for a microchip and discovered he had one and his name was Marley. After scanning the microchip, they were able to find a contact for the cat’s mother.

After speaking with Marley’s mother, the Humane Society said they learned the cat had been missing for two and a half years.

“We are just thrilled to know that we can reunite this loving couple,” said the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

The cat’s mom was able to come to the Humane Society and pick up Marley, ultimately bringing her four-legged friend home.

The Humane Society said this is a good example of the importance of microchipping your pet. So if your four-legged friend runs away, they can help you bring your pet home.

“Also, be sure to keep contact information associated with the microchip up to date,” the Humane Society said. “It’s a simple step that can make all the difference!” »

Pet owners can make an appointment with the Humane Society or a local veterinary office to have their pet microchipped. That way, if they get lost, they can find their way home.
