Pedestrian, vehicle crash sends person to Mississauga hospital

One person is in hospital following a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle at a busy Mississauga intersection last night.

Peel Regional Police reported on social media that the crash happened shortly after 9 p.m., near Dixie Road and Derry Road.

Although one person was injured, the extent of their injuries was initially reported as unknown.

An update hours later said the injured person had been taken to a trauma center for treatment; however, authorities did not say whether the pedestrian or anyone in the vehicle was injured.

No additional information regarding the victim, including her age, gender and location, has been released and police have not provided any updates on her condition.

Dixie Road was closed between Drew Road and Derry Road for several hours for police investigations and has since reopened. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
