Donald Trump says the press has lost all credibility, castigates Liz Cheney for her distorted comments

Former President Donald Trump joined “Fox & Friends Weekend” to talk about the public’s loss of trust in the media and to respond to criticism leveled against him following his comments about Liz Cheney.

Trump targeted “60 Minutes” for allegedly selectively editing an interview the show gave with Vice President Harris. Speaking to Fox News, Trump also denounced the Washington Post and other media outlets as “corrupt.”

“They have no credibility left,” Trump said of the Washington Post. “They have no credibility. The media has to have credibility and the media has no credibility.”

Regarding “60 Minutes,” CBS News refused to release the full transcript, citing the First Amendment, and rejected the claim that he “faked” the Harris interview to mislead the American people. The network insisted that “the interview was not rigged” and that the show was “not hiding any part of the vice president’s response to the question in question.”

On “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Trump spoke out against Liz Cheney after being criticized for her comments at an event in Glendale, Arizona.

“I don’t blame (former Vice President Dick Cheney) for staying with his daughter, but his daughter is a very stupid person. Very stupid, she’s a radical war hawk,” Trump said. He added: “All I’m saying is she’s a crazy war hawk. She wanted to go to war with anyone who moved and lose a lot of people, lose a lot of soldiers. Put the nation in trouble.”

“Let’s put her there with a gun with nine barrels shooting at her, okay? Let’s see how she feels. You know, when the guns are pointed in her face,” Trump said at an event Thursday. “You know, they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in nice buildings and saying, ‘Oh, well, let’s send 10,000 troops straight into the enemy’s mouth.’

“She always wanted to make war on everyone,” Trump said of Liz Cheney. “She was like a war hawk,” Trump said of Cheney.

Cheney responded to Trump’s remarks Thursday on Friday, writing: “This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten death to those who speak against them. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel and unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.”

Trump also made his final argument to Fox just days before the 2024 presidential election, saying the slowing economy and border crisis forced him to run for office.

“This is a nation in decline,” Trump said. “We can turn this around, but we have to get out and vote.”
