Saskatoon police say a deadly batch of cocaine could be circulating in Saskatoon and are warning the public to be aware of the risks.

Police were investigating an incident Friday evening in which they say two people overdosed and died after using cocaine.

Police said it’s important for people to know the signs of an overdose so they can protect themselves and others.

These symptoms may include slow or no breathing; gurgling, panting, or snoring; moist and cool skin; blue lips or nails; and difficulty waking up or staying awake.

If you suspect someone is overdosing or has overdosed, you should call 9-1-1 immediately.

“You could make a difference by saving a life,” police said.

The police also stated that Good Samaritan Overdose Act provides some legal protection to anyone who has overdosed or witnesses an overdose and seeks emergency help.

Saskatoon police say their investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact SPS at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service estimates there have been more than 150 deaths from drug poisoning in the province so far in 2024.
