Surrey RCMP say pedestrian suffered ‘serious injuries’

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a crash in Surrey on Friday evening.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of 144th Street and 88th Avenue. A driver of a pickup truck was turning left from the street onto the avenue and struck a pedestrian, “causing serious injuries,” Surrey RCMP said in a news release.

“The pedestrian, who has not been identified at this time, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition,” the release said.

“The van driver is cooperating with police.”

Police said their investigation was “in its very early stages”. They asked anyone with additional information – including dash cam video from the area – to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 24-162958.

Tips can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers, police said.
