Tennessee man arrested after months-long investigation into sexual assault of minor

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A Tennessee man has reportedly been arrested during a six-month investigation in Bay County.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that David Edward Grant was taken into custody after investigators identified him as a suspect in a case of sexual assault of a minor.

The official release states that in May 2024, BCSO deputies were called to Alaska Circle in reference to a national call. Deputies said they learned a 15-year-old victim had been in contact with an adult male on Snapchat and may have met in person and had sex in Bay County.

Investigators said they identified the man as Grant, who worked at a traveling commercial construction company. They said they confirmed Grant took the child to a local hotel where they were involved in sexual activity.

BSCO authorities said they served and executed more than 10 search warrants and subpoenas and collected a large amount of evidence during the investigation.

Investigators said that on October 31, 2024, Grant was at a hotel in Saraland, Alabama, just outside Mobile, where he worked. They said he was taken into custody and booked into the Mobile County Metropolitan Jail, where he was questioned by BCSO investigators who obtained a full confession.

We’re told Grant is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County where he will face charges of sexual battery of a person over the age of 12, but under the age of 18, under special conditions; Traveling to meet a minor for sexual purposes; and Use of a child in a sexual performance.
