Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged unity and harmony within the South-West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to deepen and broaden the party’s electoral fortunes.

Speaking at the commissioning of the party’s South West Secretariat in Ibadan, named after the late vice president of the zone, Soji Adagunodo, Governor Adeleke called for closing ranks in memory of the former party leader.

According to the governor, “the significance of today’s event is a call for unity and deeper brotherhood within the PDP at home and abroad. We must forget the divisive past and unite for the good of our dear party.

“It is better that we fight inside Government House rather than outside. We need to refocus our attention on building strong administrative operational structures.

“Through this, we can deploy for elections, retain our existing states and even expand our reach in the six zones of the federation,” the governor told senior PDP leaders, including members of the National Working Committee participating in commissioning.

“First, we are opening a major administrative hub for the party in the South West at a very critical time in our national life.

“Secondly, the name of the Secretariat is named after my late brother, Soji Adagunodo, a prominent political leader and ally of my state before its transition.

“So I am in a sober mood because our brother is not here with us to witness the honor being done to his memory. I pray to Almighty God to grant him eternal rest,” he noted.

Speaking at the commission, the host, Governor Seyi Makinde reiterated Governor Adeleke’s admonition for unity within the PDP.

Governor Makinde noted that the presence of former belligerents in the commission was a sign that the party was now one in the zone.

He advised leaders and members of the party to forget the quarrels of the past and come together to increase the victory of the party in future elections, hailing Governor Adeleke for his magnanimity and sense of responsibility.

The new Zonal Secretariat includes state-of-the-art facilities for the administrative and operational activities of the Zonal PDP.
