A Beauty Editor’s Honest Review of the T3 Fit Compact Hair Dryer

As someone who washes my hair daily, I can’t stand it when my hairdryer isn’t up to par. Low airflow and fluctuating temperatures are some of my biggest concerns. So when a dryer needs to be tested, I’m always ready to put it through its paces. Will it hurt my arm? Will this fry my hair? Will my strands still be slightly damp after 15 minutes on full power? These are all questions I would ask myself before purchasing a new machine – and which I sought to answer with this review of the T3 Fit compact hair dryer.

Having started life as a passion project, T3 founder Kent Yu wanted to help his unsatisfied girlfriend by creating a new hair dryer. Now, 20 years later, the brand has amassed a huge following thanks to its innovative designs – covering some of the best hair dryers and styling tools – and high-end appeal.

It may be small and light, but with enough power to rival a full-size 1,600W hairdryer, the Fit is certainly not to be underestimated. But does it live up to the brilliant reputation of its brand? I had to find out.

Our first impressions of the T3 Fit compact hair dryer

Opening the box, it’s almost shocking how small this hair dryer is. It is tiny. So small that its size reminds me of those horrible hairdryers you often find mounted on the wall in budget hotel rooms. But upon closer inspection, you’ll quickly notice the shiny exterior and rose gold details and it will soon regain its premium look.

The hairdryer comes with only one concentrator nozzle, which is disappointing. I expected more options for the price, but you can purchase a compatible diffuser accessory separately.

Weighing less than 400g, it is very light and incredibly comfortable to hold. It’s also great to see three temperature settings, two speed settings, a cool fire button, and a decent length cord on such a small gadget. Most compact hair dryers tend to lack features associated with full-size tools, but this one doesn’t compromise on options.

My initial skepticism about such a small gadget immediately dissipated when I tested the T3 Fit. The airflow was impressive and was just as powerful as my daily hair dryer. Thanks to its size, I was really able to get the dryer into my roots, which is a huge plus if, like me, you want to add volume to your hair and use a round brush to style. Thanks to its lightweight design, I can hold it above my head for a long time without hurting myself and it has never felt bulky or difficult to move.

IonAir technology is built into the machine, to smooth frizz, reduce damage and promote shine, and it definitely achieves that. My hair was silky and healthy from root to tip. It was gentle enough to dry my hair without burning my scalp, but packed enough “oomph” for a quick blow dry. It’s also a reasonably quiet machine, but I wouldn’t say it’s noticeably quieter than other hair dryers I’ve tried.

There is one aspect that I found disappointing with this hairdryer and that is its cool shot button. It doesn’t provide airflow at a cooler temperature immediately when you press it. Instead, it simply switches from hot air to lukewarm air. This is something that will bother those looking to “fix” their style or enhance shine with a blast of cold air.

How does the T3 Fit Compact Hair Dryer compare?

Of course, there are cheaper hair dryers to choose from and the T3 Fit is at the high end of the market. But what you’re really paying for is the power of a standard hairdryer combined with the convenience of a much more compact design. It’s tiny, but still has the same number of settings as a full-size option and for that, I’d say it’s worth the extra expense.

If you’re a seasoned traveler and want to save space in your suitcase, you’ll love how small and light this tool is. As with many hairdryers, taking it with you abroad may mean sacrificing space in a packed case or compromising effectiveness, but that’s not the case with the T3 Fit. It gives you a salon-worthy blow-dry and room for that extra pair of shoes.

One downside to the Fit is that it is a single voltage hair dryer. You will need around 220-240V for this to work in the UK, but this may differ overseas. Most travel hair dryers take this into account and offer dual voltage, but this is unfortunately missing in this design.

Should you buy the T3 Fit compact hair dryer?

If you’re looking for lightweight and compact, the T3 Fit is a great choice. It is powerful, dries hair effectively and reduces frizz. It has a premium feel, is sleek, and fits easily into a suitcase. Plus, its 9-foot cord makes it much easier to reach a mirror if the outlet is on the other side of the room.

On the other hand, if you want a hair dryer with an efficient cool blast that quickly reduces temperature, need additional accessories, or are looking for a dual-voltage machine, this may be it. not the right choice for you.
