VALENCIA, Spain (AP) — A crowd of angry survivors of Floods in Spain threw mud and shouted insults at Spain’s King Felipe VI and government officials during their first visit Sunday to one of the hardest-hit cities.

Government officials accompanied the monarch as he tried to speak to some residents while others shouted at him in Paiporta, a suburb of the devastated Valencia city.

The police had to intervene with officers on horseback to hold back the crowd of several dozen people.

More than 200 people died in Tuesday’s floods and thousands saw their homes destroyed by the wall of water and mud.
