MrBeast fans stunned to discover YouTuber arrested for street racing

MrBeast fans were stunned after discovering the YouTube star was arrested in 2018 when he was just 19 for driving 122 MPH during an illegal street race. He was charged and given a booklet, with an ID photo and everything.

MisterBeast is known for his videos featuring big stunts, challenges and huge cash or reward rewards, but he is also famous for being surprisingly guarded about the huge amounts of money he stands to win.

Even though the social media star has been striving to achieve this level of success for a decade, he hasn’t always been wise with his finances. In fact, he was arrested in 2018, although that incident was only loosely related to the money he was already generating through YouTube.

MrBeast was arrested and detained for driving a car 122 MPH on a North Carolina highway around 2:30 a.m., according to the Tar River Times. Police reported two vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed and appeared to be racing each other.

The content creator, then aged 19, was arrested by police and taken into custody. Some fans think he was probably driving a BMW i8 at the time, as he posted a video now deleted showing his new purchase at this time.

According to a press release from Tarboro Police Departmentthe YouTuber was charged with speeding at 200 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, reckless driving endangering and speed competition. He was being held on $100,000 bail at the time.

He financed the car not only with his YouTube gains, but, as he admitted in the deleted video, by liquidating several of his his cryptocurrency investments.

Many fans were surprised to learn of his arrest, with a Redditor writing“This is something the YouTube community doesn’t know yet. Quite surprising, actually.

“I didn’t know MrBeast was arrested before,” said another, while a third added: “Well that’s surprising as fuck.”

Although the YouTuber has never publicly addressed his 2018 arrest, he recently responded to sexual misconduct allegations against his company.
