Metaphor: ReFantazio, this year’s highest-rated RPG, has quite a few flaws on PC. The most serious of them can be fixed with the MetaphorFix modification.

The RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio ended up becoming a huge success, both commercially and critically. However, that doesn’t mean it’s a perfect game. Especially on PC, it has quite a few flaws. As of now, we don’t know if the authors intend to fix them, so one fan rolled up his sleeves and decided to do it himself.

This fan is called Lyall, and the fruit of his labor is the MetaphorFix modification. Among other things, it introduces full support for ultra-wide resolutions, both during gameplay (with a properly sized interface) and during cutscenes. The mod also improves visuals by increasing the resolution of ambient occlusion and shadows. Additionally, the aggressiveness of the LOD effect has been reduced, so that at greater distances the game still renders objects in high quality, instead of their simplified versions.

The project also allows you to disable the 60fps limit and adds an option to skip intros. Support for analog movements in 8 directions when playing on a pad has also been implemented and FOV (Field of View/Width of Field of View) has been improved.

MetaphorFix continually improves. The latest version, numbered 0.8.4, was released yesterday. It fixed several bugs related to camera behavior and improved interface scaling.

Metaphor: ReFantazio was released on October 11 on PC and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Atlus has never officially supported mods. However, the company uses the GFD engine for all its projects and fans are modding it better and better, while the proprietary tools they have developed are consistently adapted to new games based on this technology. We hope they soon reach a level similar to that of modders with FromSoftware games, where they finally managed to figure out even how add new content Or create additional game modes.
