Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum declined to comment on the serious foul his former teammate Grant Williams gave him Friday night.

On Saturday, Tatum was asked about it and declined to comment.

“I mean, I don’t really want to talk about it,” Tatum said. “It’s just that we prepared for today’s game, we came to Charlotte and did what we were supposed to do, and we’re going to Atlanta to try to get another win before we go back to the house.”

Tatum then mentioned Williams by name when asked how he reacts when teams resort to a more physical style of play.

“You understand that’s their game plan,” Tatum said. “They asked me to deny Grant, they didn’t want me to get the ball, they kept my face.”

“It makes you stronger, it makes you better,” he added. “You find other ways to impact the game. Don’t limit yourself to just one way to be effective. I lift every game day, so it (expletive) doesn’t really bother me.

Although it didn’t seem to really bother Tatum, his superstar teammate Jaylen Brown was bothered by the approach Williams took towards Tatum.

“What are we talking about? Are you all seeing the same room as me?” Brown said journalists. “He hit it like it was a football game. Like Ray Lewis was coming up the middle or something. That’s what it is. Grant knows better than that.”

“I thought JT and Grant were friends. … I guess not,” Brown said.

On the other hand, Williams said he never goes out on the field to try to hurt anyone.

“I’m not trying to hurt anyone. We all know he’s one of my closest friends in the league,” Williams said. told NBC Sports Boston. “JB kind of made it worse, but I understand he’s trying to protect his teammate. But he’s (Tatum) my dog. Regardless, I supported him. … No malice or any problem with that.”

Still, the Celtics went to Charlotte to win, not to fight, and that’s exactly what they did.

They faced Charlotte twice in a row and defeated them easily. The Celtics won Friday’s game 124-109, and less than 24 hours later, they beat the Hornets again, 113-103.

The Celtics are now 6-1 on the young season and are the second seed in the Eastern Conference behind the undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers.
