Sara Sharif: Court Showed Video of 10-Year-Old Smiling and Dancing “Days Before Murder” | UK News

A video showing Sara Sharif smiling and dancing, said to have been filmed days before her alleged murder, was played in court.

His mother-in-law Beinash Batool, who allegedly recorded the footage, wept in the dock at the Old Bailey as the short clip was shown to the jury.

Prosecutors are currently verifying the date of the video, which “based on available evidence” appears to have been taken on August 6 last year, the jury was told.

Batool’s lawyer Caroline Carberry KC suggested Sara appeared “coordinated, alert and smiling on camera” in the footage.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Nathaniel Cary, who was cross-examined, agreed and also acknowledged that her behavior in the video was “inconsistent with the fact that she had suffered a brain injury with associated neurological symptoms at that time- there”.

Ms Carberry said there was “no dispute” from Batool that Sara had “been subjected to a lot of physical abuse over a period of time”.

The court heard that a teenager’s bat or a white metal pole, which was part of an extendable leg of a baby high chair, may have caused some of Sara’s injuries.

His body was found in a bunk bed after his father called police early on August 10 to tell them he I “beat her too much” for being “nasty”, the jury was told.

Arrest of Sara Sharif’s alleged killers

Batool, 30, Sharif, 42, and Malik, 29, were arrested while returned to the UK on a flight from Dubai to Gatwick Airport on September 13.

All three deny murder and causing or allowing the death of a child between December 16, 2022 and August 9 last year.

The trial continues.
