Tracking Soggy Midweek Weather

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – We’re mostly dry and warm to start the week, but higher rain chances loom midweek.

Monday forecast

High pressure will control our forecast for the start of the work week. As a result, we follow another generally dry and mild day.

An isolated shower is possible, but most of us will stay dry under a mix of sun and clouds.

Highs peak in the mid to late 80s in the afternoon.

We remain calm for Monday evening. Again, an intermittent shower is possible, but rain chances remain fairly low.

Overnight lows reach their lowest in the mid to upper 60s under partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.

Election Day and Midweek Forecasts

A warm Tuesday is in store for the Big Bend and South Georgia. Election Day highs reach the mid to late 80s with some sunshine. An isolated shower is possible, but we expect higher rain chances for Tuesday evening. Spotted showers appear possible as clouds increase across the region. Lows are in the mid to lower 70s.

After a period of mostly dry weather across the region, we expect higher chances of rain for the middle of the week.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression 18 is trying to organize itself in the southern Caribbean. The National Hurricane Center forecasts this system to become Tropical Storm Rafael on Monday and possibly a Category 1 hurricane on Wednesday near the western tip of Cuba.

The models agree fairly well that this tropical system will cross the Gulf of Mexico mid-week. In the Gulf, conditions are not very favorable for tropical systems due to wind shear, dry air and cooler water temperatures. As a result, we expect some weakening on Thursday and Friday.

At this point, the steering pattern appears to be bringing this system toward the central Gulf of Mexico and southern our region, but we expect increased tropical moisture Wednesday and Thursday. As always, we are monitoring it closely, but the worry indicator is low with this system.

Rain appears likely at times Wednesday and Thursday, and pockets of heavier rain are possible. Due to showers and clouds, high temperatures are not as warm midweek. We peak in the upper 70s and lower 80s, and the lows stabilize in the mid and lower 70s.

Extended Forecast

To end the week, rain chances are not as high as drier air filters into the area.

Isolated showers are possible Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but rain cover is not as widespread.

Highs reach the low and mid 80s to end the week, while lows dip into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
