THE Vanderbilt Commodores earned another huge win in SEC play on Saturday, beating Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. It was a dominant defensive performance from the Dores, who held the Tigers to just seven points on the day.

After the victory, Vandy celebrated on Auburn’s field while speaking bluntly about their opposition. They made sure that Tigers heard about the upset victory!

Vanderbilt may have entered as an underdog, but they quickly hinted to Hugh Freeze and Co. that they were in for a test. Freeze said before the game that the Commodores squad was “lesser” than that of Auburn. The final score does not reflect this!

Vandy never trailed in the contest and they outscored the Tigers 10-0 in the second half to come away with a 17-7 victory.

Quarterback Diego Pavia has improved to a perfect level 3-0 against Coach Freezeand 2-0 against Auburn after beating the Tigers on this same field as a member of the 2023 New Mexico State football program.

Pavie threw two touchdowns that day, one of which proved to be the dagger with four minutes left in the game. His teammates informed the Tigers afterwards.

It was far from the only one talk trash made on the Vanderbilt side. Linebacker Bryan Longwell reminded the Tigers what they missed after leaving him out of their 2023 recruiting class. Longwell had four tackles on Saturday.

The win over Auburn represented the second major upset against an Alabama school, as they had already defeated the Crimson Tide, 40-35.

The Commodores continue to surprise in the SEC and have now improved to 6-3 on the season to secure bowl eligibility. They will face South Carolina next week as they look to earn their fifth win in six games.
