Bangladesh versatile and former captain Shakib Al Hasan‘s bowling action was flagged as suspicious by the umpires while he was bowling for Surrey in the County Championship, according to a report on Cricbuzz.
The left-arm spinner made a one-off appearance for Surrey in their Championship match against Somerset in September and was later invited to have his bowling action analyzed by the England and Wales Cricket Board of Directors (BCE).

Shakib took nine wickets in the match, but umpires Steve O’Shaughnessy and David Millns suspected his bowling action was illegal. This is the first such instance for Shakib in his career that spans over a decade and a half.
“The matter has no connection with international cricket or domestic cricket in other countries. The matter falls within the jurisdiction of the ECB and is not connected with the ICC or other boards” , Cricbuzz quoted an official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The report states that while “Shakib is not suspended from play, he will be required to undergo further testing at an approved location over the coming weeks.”
In September, Shakib announced his immediate retirement from T20Is, while also intending to leave Test cricket after the home series against South Africa. However, he withdrew from the series as he could not return to Bangladesh due to security concerns.
