NSW Transport urges Coldplay fans to take trains and buses to ensure stress-free travel for upcoming sold-out concerts

As 300,000 Coldplay fans descend on Sydney Olympic Park for four nights of sold-out concerts, Transport for NSW has urged fans to take public transport to ensure they have an incredible day.

Transport for NSW says Sydney’s transport network is ready to play its part in what is expected to be four massive shows ready to rock Accor Stadium.

Coldplay will perform their Music of the Spheres World Tour on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Transport for NSW general co-ordinator Howard Collins said in a statement extra buses and trains would be added to ensure smooth travel to and from the event and it would be a stress-free night for everyone.

“Tickets for an event like Coldplay go on sale over a year in advance and, similarly, our planning has taken a significant amount of time, to ensure we provide the best possible service,” said M .Collins.

“We’ve done the work so you can leave the car at home and take one of the countless public transports to Stade Accor – it’s even better if you do it bright and early, and take advantage of the bars , food trucks and stadium restaurants.

“Hundreds of additional trains and buses will travel to the Olympic Park, and the cost of the trip is already included in your concert ticket. Simply show your Coldplay concert ticket to the transportation staff when boarding.”

Sydney Trains has planned express and limited-stop services to ensure a quick and smooth journey, with trains running to and from Central, Western and Southern line stations to Olympic Park on all four nights.

To get into the Coldplay spirit, Central Station will light up in bright colors to pay tribute to the group. Hit songs will be played at the station and on board frequent express services.

For those who choose to take a bus to the Olympic Park, there will be fleets of major event buses operating on nine routes across Sydney frequently in the mid-afternoon to and from the concert.

Fans should plan their trip in advance if they want to drive and make sure to reserve a parking space at Olympic Park, as the 10,000 parking spaces are expected to fill up quickly.

“We expect there to be significant peak hour traffic across the network on Wednesday and Thursday evenings for both midweek shows. If you choose to drive, please plan your trip and leave your home more early,” Mr. Collins said.

“Parking lots usually sell out in advance, so it’s essential to book in advance online to guarantee a spot – and consider carpooling.”

Fans looking to take a rideshare or taxi or be dropped off by friends and family are advised to travel to a location near the stadium as delays are expected, while road closures are in place in the enclosure.

“Allow plenty of extra travel time as there will be heavy traffic and local road closures in the area, especially after the concert,” Mr Collins said.

“It may well be more convenient to park in one of our station commuter car parks and from there travel to the Olympic Park by train at no extra cost.”

Accor Stadium won’t want an onstage accident when Coldplay perform following a scare as singer Chris Martin fell backwards into a hole on the fourth and final night at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium.
