Homeless San Bernardino man allegedly stabbed and mauled by dogs in Perris Hill Park

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) — A homeless man died after being stabbed and mauled by a group of dogs in a San Bernardino park, police said.

Paramedics and officers responded around 5:20 p.m. Sunday to Perris Hill Park, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.

Upon arrival, the victim was found with stab wounds and dog bites. He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“While the victim was being treated by medical personnel, he had what is suspected to be a potential stab wound, but again, we are not 100 percent sure,” Captain Nelson said. Carrington of the San Bernardino Police Department. “We won’t get that information until the coroner’s inquest is complete.”

A total of 11 dogs on site were impounded by San Bernardino Animal Control. Investigators are trying to track down the owner, who is also believed to be homeless, to get more information.

An autopsy will determine the cause of the victim’s death.

Police are trying to find anyone who may have witnessed what happened. At this time, no person of interest has been identified.

“There are several homeless encampments in Perris Hill Park, so we are trying to contact many people, to try to find as many witnesses to the incident as possible,” Carrington said.
