Morning temperatures today will likely be in the 50s for many people heading into town, under mostly cloudy skies. There could be a brief sprinkling, but as the day progresses with diminishing clouds, more sunshine and milder air moving into the area, the possibility of topping 70 degrees is certainly in play for the Greater Boston. A few nuggets might appear in the northern parts of the region, but they certainly won’t amount to much.

We will also feel a strong breeze between the strong high pressure to the east and an approaching frontal boundary from the west. This pressure gradient will result in southwest winds near 15 miles per hour, with gusts between 20 and 30 miles per hour throughout the day.

Strong winds will keep the bushfire risk high again in southern New England. Very dry soil with lots of loose, crusty leaves and vegetation can easily ignite if sparked, especially when humidity levels remain relatively low.

Southern New England: Mostly cloudy skies to start the day with morning temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Increasing sunshine throughout the day with an increasing breeze as temperatures reach the 70 degree mark. A breeze reaching 15 mph is expected with gusts in the 20s.

Western Mass.: Partly cloudy skies to start the day. Temperatures in the mid 40s in the Berkshires will reach the mid 60s this afternoon while the Pioneer Valley will drop from the upper 40s to the low 70s. Not as gusty here, but still a steady breeze up to 10 mph.

Cape and Islands: Mostly cloudy with more sunshine in the afternoon. Morning temperatures in the mid 50s will rise to a comfortable mid 60s with a breeze as high as 15 mph and gusts as high as 30 mph at times.

Northern New England: Cloudy skies to start the day with a few drops or a light shower possible in the morning. Most temperatures will be in the low to mid 40s during the ride. Afternoon high temperatures can reach the low to mid 60s with higher values ​​in sunnier areas. Winds will be calmer in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine and will stay below 10 mph.
