Nvidia plans to launch a high-end consumer processor based on Arm in 2025

teasing

Nvidia is set to enter the consumer processor market with its first high-end Arm-based central processing unit (CPU), as DigiTimes reported on October 31. The planned launch is scheduled for September 2025, targeting the high-end personal computer segment. (PC). This upcoming processor will incorporate Nvidia’s proprietary processor and graphics processing unit (GPU) architectures, designed to deliver enhanced performance to high-performance computing devices. Post-launch, Nvidia aims to expand adoption of this integrated CPU-GPU solution by further promoting it around March 2026, aligning with product lifecycle and market readiness. The move represents Nvidia’s strategic attempt to challenge Intel and AMD’s long-standing dominance in the processor sector. By leveraging its extensive expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced graphics processing, Nvidia seeks to build a significant presence in the high-end device market. Nvidia’s technical foundation in processor development is strong, as demonstrated by the performance of its Grace CPU and Tegra processors in the server arena. The Grace processor, designed for data centers and AI applications, showcases Nvidia’s ability to develop scalable and efficient processing units. Likewise, the Tegra processor, known for its integration into mobile and embedded systems, highlights Nvidia’s versatility in CPU design.

Experts believe that Nvidia’s strengths in AI server technology and graphics card production will support its entry into the consumer PC market. The planned launch of the processors coincides with the end of Qualcomm’s exclusive agreements in the Arm-based PC sector, potentially allowing new competitors to enter the market. This change is expected to increase competition in the Arm-based Windows PC market, driving innovation and providing more options for consumers. Additionally, sources indicate that Nvidia’s product strategy could follow two main paths: developing a mainstream processor with an integrated GPU to compete with products from AMD, Intel and Qualcomm; and create a high-performance processor with a separate GPU aimed at the traditional x86-based gaming market.
