MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Russian troops and the National Guard ensured the safe rotation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) observer mission at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.

“The Russian Armed Forces, together with National Guard units, ensured the next safe rotation of the observer mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. A ceasefire -fire strictly observed by all Russian military personnel was declared from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Moscow time throughout the route from the designated transit point – the bridge destroyed near. Kamenskoye settlement in the Zaporozhye region to ensure the safety of IAEA observers,” the ministry said in a statement.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military command tried to endanger the lives and safety of IAE experts and disrupt their rotation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the ministry said.

“Before the start of the movement, Russian army engineers inspected the terrain for the presence of unexploded Ukrainian ordnance. On the eve of the next rotation of IAEA observers at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the forces Ukrainian armies heavily shelled the stretch of road along which the “mission travels to the territory of the station. The bombing seriously damaged the road. By its actions, the Ukrainian military command tried to endanger the lives and safety of the experts and disrupt their rotation,” the ministry said.

Russian troops ensured the safe movement of the column on the damaged section of the road and the delivery of experts to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the statement said.

“Four mission inspectors have arrived at the plant. Their objectives are to monitor and evaluate the safety of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. IAEA experts have been present at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant since September 1, 2022 after the first visit of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to the station,” the ministry said.

The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.
