NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Metro Parks leaders met Tuesday to discuss possible safety changes along Nashville’s greenways.

The meeting comes a month after Alyssa Lokits was shot and killed while running on the Mill Creek Greenway.

Officials plan to add more lighting and cameras along the greenways. There are also plans to extend the 440 Greenway to Centennial Park, which would create a path directly to the park, so those using it would not have to walk on the road.

“We have a responsibility to make our parks as safe as possible. Part of it comes down to resource allocation, whether we have enough resources and how can we deploy those resources to get there,” a Metro Parks official said.

Park officials are seeking public input on these changes. So there will be a meeting at the Metro Parks Building on November 13 at 5:30 p.m.
