CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Fairly decent weather conditions for late fall are expected for at least a few days to end the work and school week.

The clouds gradually dissipate, the rain takes a break

After a few gloomy and heavy rainy days, we will transition to clearer and calmer conditions for a while. It starts this evening, with clouds becoming less prevalent later tonight and lighter winds. Temperatures are expected to drop to cooler values ​​in a few days, reaching the upper 30s to around 40 for most.

With a mix of sun and clouds expected on Wednesday, we should see steadily warm temperatures throughout the day. High temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 50s, although any area where stubborn clouds persist will be slightly lower. Winds will be generally light, which should make for a pleasant early November day.

We see repeats of this phenomenon throughout the remainder of the work and school week, with each day having lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s. Areas of cloudy weather will be possible through Friday when More cloud cover is expected to form later today.

Your First Alert: Another System Brings Good Rain Chances

These clouds arrive ahead of a storm system that brings precipitation back into our forecast. Friday evening is expected to remain dry, but risks increase later in the night. Most of the precipitation will fall on Saturday, leading to a fairly wet start to the weekend. As a result, temperatures could be somewhat contained, with low to mid 50s likely.

Chances of rain persist through Saturday evening, with some areas seeing a few showers through early Sunday. The extent of this rain will diminish later in the weekend, with most areas becoming dry by the second half of Sunday.

With this system still a few days away, there have been some changes in the timing of this system, observed in the computer models we use to help us make our forecasts. Although drastic changes are unlikely, those planning weekend activities should keep an eye out for any adjustments in the coming days.

Behind this system we still get a few days of pretty nice weather for this time of year. Temperatures remain above normal at night and during the day, with lows in the 30s to 40s. Highs will be a bit warmer, however, reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s.

The next storm system arrives shortly thereafter, with chances of showers and storms becoming possible Tuesday evening through parts of Wednesday. The timing of this system could also change before it arrives, so stick with us for updates.

Cooler air returns behind it, with highs at the end of the 9-day forecast only in the 40s and lows in the 30s.
