Randy Fine expected to win in State Senate District 19 against Ahrens

Republican state Rep. Randy Fine won the race for Florida Senate District 19 against Democrat Vance Ahrens.

According to most precincts, Fine received about 60 percent of the vote, compared to Ahrens with about 40 percent.

Fine claimed victory on social media immediately after polls closed Tuesday.

“Thank you very much to the people of Brevard for my resounding election to the Florida Senate,” Fine wrote. “This victory is not just a referendum on how I fight for you, but a contract between us to fight even harder moving forward. I woke up on the left, get ready you. I’m just getting started.”

Ahrens said she is not done fighting for “equality and the people of Brevard.”

“My opponent outspent me 100 times more than I did, thanks to out-of-state money. But I’m not done. I’ll still be active in the community,” she said. declared. “People from ages 7 to 70 said they were so inspired by what I did, and from that perspective, I knew before the night even started that I had won.”

Fine has served in the Florida House of Representatives since 2016 and was unable to run again due to term limits. Ahrens is a newcomer to politics and is running to become the first openly transgender state senator.

State Senate District 19 covers most of central and southern Brevard, from Port St. John and Cape Canaveral to Micco.

The seat is currently held by State Senator Debbie Mayfield, who was unable to seek re-election due to term limits. She’s running for Florida House instead District 32.

State senators are elected to four-year terms and earn an annual salary of $29,697.
