Grants awarded to Pee Dee victim service groups

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Some Pee Dee organizations that work with crime victims are getting some extra help.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Wednesday the handful of Pee Dee organizations that will receive grants.

The grants are provided through Victim Assistance Grants from the Department of Crime, which works under the Attorney General’s Office. Most of the grant funding comes from federal dollars, but some funding comes from the General Assembly.

McLeod Regional Medical Center received $251,907 over two grants, the Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault received $2,089,340 over three grants, CARE House of the Pee Dee received $368,346 over one grant and the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office received a grant of $46,563.

Wilson announced last week which Lowcountry organizations received grants through the Department of Crime’s Victim Assistance Grants.
