Car stolen at knifepoint in east Oakville

Halton police are searching for a suspect who allegedly pulled out a knife after stealing a vehicle from the parking lot of an Oakville shopping center.

Police say the theft occurred on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at approximately 11:55 p.m. near Dundas Street West and Hampshire Gate, near the Mississauga Border Shopping Centres.

During this time, a person left an unspecified restaurant, went out to start their car and then returned to the restaurant. The suspect then allegedly approached the car and pulled out a knife after a third party approached them to stop stealing the vehicle.

The third party walked away from the suspect and entered the restaurant to warn the owner of the car, according to police, while the suspect left the scene in the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Police said the suspect is described as a man six feet tall, of slim build, approximately 30 years old and wearing dark clothing.
