Canada Post workers rallies in Mississauga, Hamilton and Ottawa

Rallies are planned for Thursday in support of Canada Post workers in Mississauga, Hamilton and Ottawa.

For almost a year, Canada Post and the union representing its workers, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, have been in contract talks. Last weekend, negotiations were “less productive” than the union hoped.

The state company said in a press release Monday evening that neither party provided the minimum 72 hours’ notice of its intention to initiate a labor dispute, but the Canadian Union of Postal Workers reiterated its threat on its website that it would “not hesitate not to move on to the next step” if there was a work interruption. no real movement at the negotiating table.

The Postal Workers Union said it is demanding fair wages, safe working conditions, the right for all workers to retire with dignity and the expansion of public postal services for all communities.

Labor and union allies will rally for postal workers this Thursday, the Postal Workers Union announced in a press release.

The union wants to let Canada Post and the federal government know that they support postal workers and demand that Canada Post come to the bargaining table with real solutions to help workers.
