The snowstorm will continue until Saturday morning

Heavy snow continued to fall across Colorado Thursday morning, and National Weather Service forecasters said the storm could extend into the weekend.

Snow cover and intensity were increasing across the Colorado Plains and metro area Thursday morning. according to NWS radars.

The Palmer Divide and eastern Plains will see the heaviest snow Thursday with up to 11 inches of accumulation possible, NWS forecasters said. The Denver area could also see an additional 1 to 4 inches, with more snow expected to fall in the south metro.

Forecasters said “dangerous to near impossible travel conditions” would exist across the Plains and metro area, with more impacts on travel south of Interstate 70.

A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect across most of the Denver area Thursday evening through Saturday morning, forecasters said. Exact timings for the watch were not available.

“Moderate to heavy snowfall is possible…Friday into Saturday morning as the storm system from the past few days is finally expected to move out of the area,” forecasters said in a statement. Dangerous weather alert. Snow is expected to ease Thursday evening across Colorado before returning Friday morning.

The Eastern Plains could see up to a foot of snow Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, forecasters said in the weather alert.
