Insults fly as Simon Jordan and Frank Warren clash violently over Conor Benn and Ben Shalom.

Simon Jordan and Frank Warren had a heated debate on talkSPORT on Thursday afternoon.

Warren joined the White and Jordan show just after noon for a discussion about lifting Conor Benn drug suspension.

Benn failed two drug tests for the banned substance Clomiphene taken before his canceled fight with Chris Eubank Jr in 2022 and was provisionally suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

The suspension was briefly lifted last July by the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP), allowing Benn to return to the ring for two fights in America before being reinstated following an appeal by the BBBofC and the Anti-Doping Agency British (UKAD).

However, on Wednesday it was confirmed that the NADP had dismissed the charges against the boxer and lifted his suspension once again.

The full facts and findings cannot be published until Benn gives NADP and UKAD permission to share the results publicly.

Warren, who was previously a very vocal critic, therefore chose to remain coy on the subject and not pass judgment without knowing all the facts.

That prompted Jordan to say, “It’s interesting because you were very condemnatory of the situation two years ago and you’re not as condemnatory now.

“Because strict liability is very simple, and you know more about it, as you regularly point out to people who listen to you, you know more about things than people like me.

“But the clear guidelines for drug offenses are strict liability. If you have drugs in your system, you are under the auspices of strict liability, you get a ban and the ban can be reduced.”

A frustrated Warren responded: “I’m not defending him and I haven’t changed my mind, I don’t know why you say that?”

Jordan then interrupted: “I’m saying it because you’ve aligned yourself with Eddie (Hearn) and you don’t want to say anything derogatory about each other and he’s his (Benn’s) promoter”, in reference to to the agreement of Matchroom and Queensberry with the same broadcaster, DAZN.

“Well, you won’t say anything disparaging about your friend (BOXXER leader) Ben Shalom and his companion (Mazhar) Majeed,” Warren retorted.

“What do you think about him working with the cricket repairman?” »

Mazhar Majeed was the man at the center of the cricket-fixing scandal in which three members of the Pakistan national cricket team were found guilty of accepting bribes from Majeed to deliberately bowl no balls during a test match against England in 2010. Majeed himself was jailed. .

Boxing promoter Frank Warren casts doubt on Daniel Dubois’ Anthony Joshua rematch as he rules out fight with Fabio Wardley

“I think it’s terrible and I don’t think he’s working with him,” Jordan said. “I think he’s the manager of Joshua Buatsi And Eddie Hearn have you worked with Joshua Buatsi and have you worked with fighters who have a relationship with Mazhar Majeed? »

Jordan’s accusations were met with stiff resistance from Warren: “Who have I worked with and who has a relationship with him?”

Jordan didn’t name any names and said he would “need a second to think about it.”

“It’ll take you more than a second, I promise,” Warren replied.

“But other than that, all I’m saying is we don’t know they came to that conclusion.

“Is Conor innocent? Until we know the facts, no one can give an opinion on this, but the Boxing Board of Control will know.”
