Helldivers 2 boss ‘would love to do a take’ on Star Wars, Predator and Warhammer 40,000

The hated Super Earth’s domination threatens to expand again as Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt openly toys with the prospect of Helldiverse 2 crossover games, starting with the tabletop war game Trench Crusade and extending to, well, take your pick. Arrowhead’s appetite for other licenses seems insatiable. This is the kind of outright expansionism expected from Earth’s loathsome regime, whose propaganda of “managed democracy” continues to captivate thousands of hapless, disposable imperialists. Pilestedt even wants to make a Fifth Element game! Milla Jovovich is spinning in her grave. Milla Jovovich is not dead, you say? Well, that’s good news at least.

Pilestedt introduced the Trench Crusade crossover last week in a Xitter response. The good-natured vultures of Video player then stepped in and wrote an article about it, which Pilestedt also responded to. “Yes, but these are just thoughts,” he qualified, noting that introducing too many or the wrong type of third-party licenses into the world of Helldivers could “dilute the intellectual property “.

While it might seem like an attempt to avoid further reporting, Piletstedt just couldn’t resist sharing “a long list of IP addresses that I’d really like to consider,” which the happy jackals of PC gamer grabbed it in their slobbering jaws. And now we write it too. What kind of creature is Rock Paper Shotgun in this particular Attenborough scenario? We are insectsOf course. We are a horde of alien insects, emerging triumphantly from our burrows to chew on the carcass of this story. Without further ado, here is Pilestedt’s list.

– Aliens

– Space Soldiers

– Terminator

– Predator

– Star Wars

– Fifth element

– Blade Runner

-Warhammer 40k

– Trench Crusade

– Mutant Chronicles

– Drop Zone Commander

You could say there are pieces of it already in Helldivers 2 as it is. Starship Troopers is, of course, the book and film franchise that Helldivers draws inspiration from. The game’s satirical Eternal War fiction is essentially 40K but without the slots and wax seals. The Terminator, Alien, and Predator feature prominently in the design of the Helldivers’ enemy factions. Still, I see some untapped possibilities here that could take Helldivers in some fascinating directions. Here is a brief list.

– Make a Terminator expansion where one of your teammates could be a Terminator in a suit. Most of my teammates try to kill me anyway.

– If you plan to add xenomorphs, make it so they can take out Helldivers and shroud them, giving your colleagues a deadline to rescue them before they are shrouded.

– If you’re going to do Warhammer 40K, don’t just add Space Marines. Give us the ability to transform into Dreadnoughts when we die. Also endow each map with an ambient level of warp activity, with demons emerging if you commit too much heresy (e.g. by droppodding your comrades).

– As for the Starship Troopers, let’s talk to the insects telepathically. This is what Edge would want, and it actually happens at the end of Verhoeven’s film. Spoilers, I guess!!!!!
