Cleveland Guardians linked to major move for free agent outfielder

THE Cleveland Goalies are going to be an interesting team to watch in the days and weeks to come. After nearly making the World Series, some believe the front office could become more aggressive than it has been in recent years.

Every fan knows that the Guardians don’t spend big in free agency. However, since their chances of winning a championship are very high if they make the right decisions, could they consider becoming more aggressive?

If they choose to become more aggressive, pursuing a big bat should be a major priority for Cleveland.

James Mastrucci from Away Back Gone made a major suggestion to the Guardians. He thinks they should sue Los Angeles Dodgers star outfielder Teoscar Hernández.

“Hernandez may be close to or out of Cleveland’s comfort zone from a financial standpoint, and the fact that he’s entering his season at age 32 may be somewhat concerning. That being said, consistent production like This one doesn’t come cheap, and it’s exactly what the Guardians should be looking for when targeting players in free agency, especially for a team that could use this type of offensive production.

Let’s take a closer look at Hernandez and whether or not he could be a potential fit for Cleveland.

During the 2024 MLB season, Hernandez put up big numbers for the Dodgers. He played in 154 games, hitting .272/.339/.501. In addition to his slash line, Hernandez ended up hitting 33 home runs and 99 RBIs.

These numbers are exactly the kind of offensive production that could take the Guardians to the next level.

At 32 years old, he’s the kind of game-winning move Cleveland should consider making if they want to take a chance. However, would they be willing to pay for it?

This is where things get a little dodgy. The Guardians don’t spend a lot of money and Hernandez won’t come cheap.

Everything will depend on the position of the Cleveland front office. Are they willing to spend more now that they’re about to win a championship? If that’s the case, Hernandez is absolutely a move that would make sense and one they’d be willing to spend money on.

It’s more than likely that Hernandez won’t end up with the Guardians. It’s simply unlikely they would pay to sign a player of this caliber. But if they radically changed their approach, he would be one of the players who would be the right type of target.

Expect to continue to hear rumors about Cleveland as the days and weeks go by. Hernandez is a name to watch at least.
