Brampton transit strike impacts Mississauga buses

A major transit bus line in Mississauga is affected by a strike by some 1,200 Brampton municipal workers.

Mississauga city officials said Thursday morning that the MiWay 103 Hurontario Express route will be rerouted in response to the Canadian Union of Public Employees workers’ strike in Brampton. This city’s transit workers are among those involved in labor dispute.

“As a result of this work stoppage, bus access to the Brampton Gateway terminal may be affected. As a result, MiWay Route 103 Hurontario Express will be detoured until further notice,” MiWay officials said. “The route will detour after passing Steeles Avenue and Hurontario Street in Brampton. »

From Steeles Avenue, transit officials continued, the bus will turn onto McMurchy Avenue, then Charolais Boulevard and Main Street to serve a temporary bus stop near the terminal platform .

Route 103 Hurontario Express will serve all other scheduled stops along its route, officials added.

Mississauga transit riders who may be affected are encouraged to visit miway.ca or call 905-615-4636 for up-to-date information.
