An automotive influencer who posted YouTube videos of drag racing on the streets of New York died when he crashed his BMW at high speed into a light pole near John F. Kennedy Airport, police said.

Andre Beadle, 25, crashed shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday on the Nassau Expressway near the airport, the New York Police Department said in a news release. Beadle was thrown from the car in front of a small crowd of horrified onlookers.

Beadle, who lived in the Bronx and was known on social media as 1Stockf30, had 240,000 followers on Instagram and 59,000 on YouTube. He had posted videos of himself piloting his purple BMW M240 on city streets and at a race track in Pennsylvania.

In a nighttime video, a group of men are seen blocking traffic on a city highway, then smoothing the roadway in preparation for the race.

Fans posted tributes following Beadle’s death. “Be quiet,” said one Instagram poster. “You have done great things for the street racing and drag racing scene. A legend forever. » Others criticized him for not taking security seriously.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
