Berkley leads Seaman in tight race for Las Vegas mayor, ballots still not counted

Like many ballot papers waiting to be verified and counted across Nevada, some races are still too close to call and many residents of the city of Las Vegas are wondering who will become the next mayor as the 25-year legacy of Oscar and Carolyn Goodman as Mayors of the City of Las Vegas. Vegas is coming to an end.

As of Wednesday evening, after election night, mayoral candidate Shelley Berkley was leading in polls against her opponent, Las Vegas City Councilwoman Victoria Seaman, with more than 50 percent of the vote.

After meeting with both mayoral candidates on election night, Berkley and Seaman spoke about how they hope to represent the people of Las Vegas if elected.

“My goal is to make our city one of the safest cities in America and ensure that we move it forward with bold leadership, addressing the issues that are important to people,” said Victoria, Las Vegas city councilor and mayoral candidate. Marine.

“I will do my best to represent everyone in this community and give everyone the opportunity to share in the success of Las Vegas. I think our best years are ahead of us,” added her opponent, Shelley Berkley.

As for who will fill the mayor’s seat, both candidates say some of their key properties include addressing a long list of concerns currently affecting many Las Vegans.

“We’re going to deal with the homeless issues that we’re having and affordable housing is a major issue as well as economic growth and development,” Berkley said.

“People are fed up with crime in the city, shoplifting and things like that. They are really concerned about the future of our city,” Seaman added.

After more than two decades of reign of the Goodman legacy over the city of Las Vegas, the two mayoral candidates say they want to ensure they can meet the expectations of the population.

“We’re going to have a mayor for the first time in 25 years who isn’t a Goodman, so they want to make sure the person who replaces him has the experience and bold leadership needed to move the city forward.” added the sailor.

“I’ve known the Goodmans for years. I know they want me to succeed because that’s part of their legacy as well and so you’re in these positions for as long as you’re elected, you’re doing the best you can for the people that call Las Vegas home,” Berkley added.

The City of Las Vegas Mayor’s race has not yet been announced, updated numbers can be found here.
