Chinese Cinema Pavilion at the AFM Global collaborations and partnerships

The China Film Pavilion will play a leading role in highlighting the strength of China’s film industry at the 45th annual American Film Market (AFM) in Las Vegas, held this year from November 5-10. organized by China Film Co-Production Corporation (CFCC) of China Film Group Corporation, will showcase a variety of films and institutions and aim to strengthen international exchanges, foster cooperation and promote global trade of Chinese films.

Each year, the AFM, widely regarded as one of the world’s largest film exchange platforms, brings together thousands of industry professionals from more than 80 countries to engage in discussions on the exchange of film rights. authorship, financing agreements and film screenings. This year marks China Film Pavilion’s second participation in the AFM.

The return reflects China’s commitment to showcasing the diversity and innovation of its film industry. “The aim is not only to promote international trade of domestic films, but also to encourage resource sharing and collaboration in global markets,” said a CFCC spokesperson. “In the future, the China Film Pavilion plans to continue to expand opportunities for Chinese filmmakers to engage with the international community and introduce more Chinese films to audiences around the world.”

More than 50 Chinese film companies and institutions cover areas such as film production, copyright management, marketing, distribution, theatrical operations, talent development and film festivals. “The global film industry is currently facing new challenges and opportunities, making communication more important for everyone,” says a representative of a film company. “By participating in the China Film Pavilion, we hope to engage in in-depth exchanges with our international counterparts, establish a comprehensive and stable cooperation network, and promote the integrated development of Chinese and world cinema.”

“The sinking of the Lisbon Maru”

Chinese films continue to attract considerable interest from international audiences. “The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru”, which represented China at the 97th Academy Awards, was screened in many cities in the United Kingdom, attracting the attention of media and audiences around the world. “The Volunteers: For the Second War,” which premiered on China’s National Day last October, grossed $112 million in its first week and reshaped international perceptions of the potential of China’s film market. Additionally, the successful re-release of the “Harry Potter” series in China has further fueled global expectations for the Chinese market.

This year, the China Film Pavilion presented more than 200 films at the AFM. Among them are works that have performed well on the domestic market as well as highly anticipated new projects. These include films rooted in Chinese culture and aesthetics like “Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants”, “A Tapestry of a Legendary Land” and “White Serpent: Afloat” as well as more films contemporaries like “Gold or Shit”, “Herstory” and “Moments We Shared”. Before the official start of this year’s AFM, many exhibitors received inquiries and scheduled meetings with international partners. On the opening day of the event, discussions were already underway regarding film prices, copyright terms and cross-border collaboration, with preliminary agreements being reached on several projects.

Throughout the six-day event, the China Film Pavilion will offer thematic brochures on recent developments in the Chinese film market, respond to visitors’ inquiries on film imports and co-production policies, and connect filmmakers foreigners with potential Chinese partners. Exhibitors and filmmakers from Chinese film companies will also hold productive discussions with exhibitors and filmmakers from other countries and regions and open new avenues of international collaboration and exchange.
