South Surrey crash leaves pedestrian dead, RCMP say

A man has died after a crash in south Surrey on Thursday evening, according to local police.

In a press release, Surrey RCMP described the incident as “a collision involving a pedestrian.”

The gendarmerie said they were called to the scene, on 176th Street, between 32nd and 24th Avenues, around 5:30 p.m., along with paramedics and firefighters.

Emergency services found a deceased man at the scene. The police did not mention the driver who hit the pedestrian in their statement. CTV News has requested more information and will update this story if a response is received.

Police said their investigation was in its early stages and the cause of the collision had not yet been determined. They said 176th Street would remain closed between specified avenues for “an indefinite period of time.”

Investigators are also asking witnesses or people with dash cam video from the area to contact them at 604-599-0502.
