Preston and South Ribble community groups share almost £30,000 in funding

“Preventing crime and stopping people becoming victims is, alongside strong law enforcement, a key part of keeping Lancashire safe. This can only be achieved by going upstream and having strong leadership, a strong police force and a powerful deterrent.

Here is a full list of community projects which have received grants in Preston and South Ribble.

The Foxton Center – Preston

The Foxton Center was awarded £5,000 to provide weekly space at the Women’s Center for 2-3 hours. Women from Mill Bank, service users and other similar projects have come together to be able to access all possibilities of support from qualified professionals.

Community Network and Outreach Service – South Ribble

The community network and outreach service intend to run a safe weekly space for young people to socialise, access a meal and work with them on project ideas and events for the wider community, shaped by them. They received £5,000.

Preston Professional Center

Preston Vocational Centre’s ‘Build Your Future: Pathways to Construction’ project has been awarded £4,492 with the aim of engaging vulnerable young people by introducing them to the construction sector. The program will provide them with valuable skills whilst addressing issues relating to anti-social behavior and low crime.

Preston North End Community and Education Trust

Preston North End Community and Education Trust will run two-hour sessions and recreational activities with young people from Bamber Bridge. They aim to divert young people from anti-social behavior in this area. They received £5,000.

Mill Bank Wellbeing Center – Preston

Mill Bank Wellbeing Center will be hosting group team building days in several locations including the Foxton Centre, PNE Educational Trust, Harris, Youth Zone and Family Hubs. They received £5,000 for the project.

Mentorfit – Ribble Valley

Mentorfit would like to offer its Mentorfit program to young people aged 13 to 17 during the October and February semesters. They received £4,600.
