Elliot Lake man accused of harassing neighbor

A Northern Ontario man is charged with criminal harassment following threatening conduct toward a neighbor in Elliot Lake following an alleged “road rage” incident.

Police received a complaint Thursday that a man on Mississauga Avenue had followed the neighbor in his vehicle and hit him before dangerously passing him on the road in front of the English secondary school.

“The neighbor continued to harass the complainant by following him to a grocery store parking lot where he verbally reprimanded him,” the Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Friday.

When police went to the suspect’s home, they said he was “very uncooperative” and “refused to listen to reason or simple instructions.”

“A brief altercation ensued, but police were able to safely make an arrest,” the OPP said.

The 42-year-old man is also charged with resisting a peace officer and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

He is due in court on December 12.
