Could Michigan Football solve its QB issues with Miller Moss?

Former USC starting quarterback Miller Moss was benched in favor of backup Jayden Maiava. Moss became the Trojans’ starting quarterback in 2024 after turning in a stellar performance last season in USC’s bowl game. He threw for 372 yards and six touchdowns.

But after the Trojans start 4-5 in 2024, Lincoln Riley finds himself searching for answers. With Moss being benched, rumors are flying and JJ Metz – a credentialed media member for FAU and the Miami Dolphins – has reported that Moss will be entering the transfer portal and that Michigan is his top destination of choice.

Now, there has been no official entry into Moss’ portal, and no one at USC has reaffirmed the report. I’ve contacted a few journalists covering Trojans and haven’t heard anything about this yet.

But let’s bite. Because it’s a real possibility. Someone of Moss’ ability doesn’t want to sit on the bench and there is a clear need at the University of Michigan. The Wolverines are actively looking for their 2025 quarterback. This guy is probably not on the current roster. The only quarterback on the roster who could start next season is freshman Jadyn Davis, but obviously he’s not ready this year, so Michigan will have to bring in competition for the position. next year.

Michigan wants Bryce Underwood and is doing everything in its power to land him, but having a veteran who could come in and fight isn’t the worst idea. Moss is second in the Big Ten with 18 touchdowns, however, he is toward the bottom with nine interceptions thrown. I don’t think Moss is the problem with USC’s offense, but I don’t cover the Trojans closely either.

Moss has an active arm and is ready to throw the rock. He’s not very mobile, which doesn’t bode well under this current offensive line. But if Michigan is willing to pay for a top-tier quarterback, the Wolverines will provide him with plenty of playmakers — and linemen — around him to thrive.

He’s currently a redshirt junior, so Moss could be a one-year solution in Ann Arbor if he comes in and plays well.
