Jon Jones confirms he will be lighter for UFC 309 compared to last fight

Jon Jones has declined since we last saw him in the UFC Octagon.

Tom Aspinall responds to Jon Jones saying interim champion ‘did nothing’

“Bones” first stepped on the scales as a heavyweight in March 2023, taking a three-year layoff to leave the light heavyweight (205 pounds) division. Upon his return, Jones would weigh 248 pounds for his UFC 285 fight with Ciryl Gane, submitting Gane (who weighed 247.5) with ease to win the vacant title.

We didn’t see much of this heavyweight version of Jones, as the fight ended in just over two minutes with a guillotine choke.

What will Jones look like in his second and possibly final appearance at heavyweight against a more well-rounded former champion in Stipe Miocic? We will have to wait until November 16 to know the result, but not to know Jones’ current weight.

In an interview with Scott Fontana of the New York Post SportsJones says he weighs about 235 pounds, which is 13 pounds less than what he weighed for UFC 285 20 months ago.

“I bulked up, I got really strong,” Jones said of his past physique at heavyweight. “I felt how I was going to feel and now more than ever I feel like I don’t need this size to win as a heavyweight.”

“I’m only a small guy but I feel fast and very strong. I do weightlifting with heavy weights all the time.” Jones added.
