Woman, 68, found dead in freezer after hiring workers to help maintain her home

LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) – A woman was found dead in her freezer and a person is under arrest in connection with her death.

Daniel Roush, 37, is facing charges after a woman’s body was found in a mobile home earlier this week, according to Las Vegas police.

The police said they received a call about a woman who went missing around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. Neighborhood residents told them that their 68-year-old neighbor had suddenly disappeared and that she had not been seen walking with her dog since the end of October.

Arriving officers said no one opened the front door of the mobile home at first, but once inside they encountered two people who were acting suspiciously.

Officers stopped the people inside the home for questioning, who said they did not know where the woman was.

Police searched the mobile home and found a locked freezer. Police called a locksmith to open the freezer, which revealed the woman’s body inside.

Roush, one of those interviewed, was taken into custody and charged with open murder.

Neighbors said the woman had lived in the mobile home park community for more than 20 years and had hired two people to help her do some work on her home.

Neighbor Christine Marshall said she had known the woman for 20 years and said she was almost too kind and open to strangers.

“She was just very willing to give away too much information,” she said. “I told the cop last night that every crook gets a real salary. She probably would have given them whatever they wanted. She didn’t deserve this.

The two workers eventually began living in the woman’s mobile home, but when her medications were stolen, neighbors said that’s when they were evicted.

Another neighbor said the woman told them a few weeks ago that she was worried the two workers would come back and harm her.

The woman’s identification, as well as the cause and manner of her death, remain pending with the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
