Everyone except hardened workaholics enjoys a day off with the opportunity to relax, spend time with loved ones, or celebrate a special occasion.

But there is a country in Asia leading the number of most public holidays in the world, with at least 35.

This figure undoubtedly suggests that the inhabitants of landlocked regions Nepal I love festivals, with many religious and secular holidays in their calendar, including Prithvi Jayanti and Indra Jatra.

Dashain is considered the most popular festival in the Nepali calendar, lasting 15 days and marked by Nepali Hindus.

Kukur Tihar, on the other hand, is a day dedicated to the worship of dogs as part of Nepal’s Tihar festival of lights, where cows are also celebrated by animal lovers.

It celebrates the triumph of good over evil and for followers of the Shaktism branch of Hinduism, it marks the victory of the goddess Durga over a demon.

The number of public holidays in the UK varies from country to country, but for England and Wales there are a minimum of eight.

This is one of the lowest in the world, although there is one less in the Netherlands, which has seven, and two more than in the United States, where people benefit from a minimum of six public holidays per year.

Americans are eligible for paid leave for New Year’s, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Independence Day.

Some U.S. states have additional holidays, including Rosa Parks Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the United States.
