As promised, the first patch for Dragon Age: The Veilkeeper is live, and not only does it fix a decent number of problems, but it also brings some chic new duds to the game that might be familiar to you.

The new outfit was released to mark N7 Day celebrating Mass Effect, which was “quieter” this year, largely because of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. You can collect it from a chest that will appear next to the Lighthouse workshop once Harding’s “Singing Blade” is completed – after installing the patch, naturally.

I’m not going to lie, I can’t say that the outfit is actually “familiar” in the sense that I look at it and immediately think of Mass Effect. This feels more like Assassin’s Creed to me, something Ezio might put on if he decided he was tired of all the stealth and parkour, and just wanted to burn off for a while. However, this continues what I guess we can now call a tradition: in 2010, Mass Effect 2 had a very stylish Blood Dragon armor based on Dragon Age: Origins, which had released a few months earlier.

There was absolutely no confusion as to the origins of this armor.

Anyway, the heart of the problem is the patchwhich doesn’t make any major gameplay changes but fixes a few dozen bugs and balancing issues: “The Dalish elf in the Unwelcome Guests quest is now a real elf” seems like an important fix for a character who is supposed to be an elf, but for me the highlight has to be “NPCs’ necks no longer grow unexpectedly.”

With this first patch released, EA said it will “support the game with additional patches in the future to help make your gaming experience even better.” However, there’s no indication as to when the next update is expected to arrive, so for now, if you’re having any issues, I hope this helps.
